Expansion of Dispense Systems Activities

Aalberts Industries, with activities in the areas of Industrial Services and Flow Control, has taken over all the assets of Kall Schanktechnik GmbH, based in Germany.

Kall specializes in cooling technology for dispense systems and has also developed a modular system for portable bars. The company, with an annual turnover of EUR 2.5 to 3 million and 16 employees, had been in financial difficulties, mainly as a result of the high cost of developing new products and could therefore not continue to operate as an independent company. Kall's activities now form part of a new company, called Kall Kuhl-und Schanksysteme GmbH, in the German DSI Group (dispense systems).

With major customers, such as Heineken and some leading German breweries, and a strong order book, Kall will be able to continue operating successfully within Aalberts Industries. By combining Kall's specific know-how in the field of cooling with its own product development, the DSI Group will not only save on overall development costs, but will also be able to offer more complete systems (including cooling), which will strengthen its market position considerably, especially with the big European breweries.

Kall will make a positive contribution to profit growth in 2005. The transaction is being financed from Aalberts' own resources.
